Developing Political Black Mail to New Art

In recent events there has been an increasing amount of what one could only call political Black mail to get your vote.
Such as the push by McCain for off shore drilling increase.
With all the facts now out to the public.

Ones in which they have known right from the start, first there is no "ban". Followed by own reports.

Via Jerome a Paris, Climate Progress reports:The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently did a detailed study of the likely outcome of offshore drilling for their Annual Energy Outlook 2007,

"Impacts of Increased Access to Oil and Natural Gas Resources in the Lower 48 Federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS)."

The sobering conclusion:The projections in the OCS access case indicate that access to the Pacific, Atlantic, & eastern Gulf regions won’t have a significant impact on domestic crude oil & natural gas production or prices before 2030.And the impact of the projected 7% (!) increase in lower-48 oil production that might result in 2030 thanks to opening the OCS is any impact on .

In recent comment McCain stated even knowing what we do today about the facts that brought about the war. He would still be for it. I guess the same would go for this issue.

The real issue is why aren't the oil companies drilling in the areas that they already hold permits for?

In contrast Obama Suggests Charging Oil Companies for Unused Leases

Yet another example ocurred on Feb. 1, the Bush administration’s broad expansion of its surveillance powers in the hastily-passed Protect America Act are set to expire.

Facing a confrontation in the Senate over the inclusion of retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has said he “is likely to push for a one-month extension of the existing law to give Congress & the White House time to work out a compromise.”

But the White House is balking at Reid’s approach, stoking fears of a terrorist attack if it does not get everything they want on a permanent basis.

Spokesman Tony Fratto told Congressional Quarterly yesterday that without the immediate passage of legislation, “terrorists” will soon “be free to make phone calls without fear of being surveilled“:

“We’re exactly three weeks away,” he said, “from the date when terrorists can be free to make phone calls without fear of being surveilled by U.S. intelligence agencies”.Fratto’s contention is flat-out misleading. As CQ’s Keith Perine notes, “intelligence agents would not be instantly hobbled if the law were to expire Feb. 1.”
This is Not true in fact, surveillance authorizations would still “remain in effect until a year after they were issued”

The same fear tactics are being used at lower levels as well to get your vote such as this.

You also must talk to your employees about the Presidential election. You are not allowed to tell your employees who to vote for but you can express your thoughts on the best candidate for our industry and the protection of their jobs.

Than there’s this little gem.Mr. Black’s comment in an article in Fortune magazine that a terrorist attack on American soil between now and the election would be a “big advantage” for Senator John McCain provided a “very disappointing glimpse into the thinking of one of McCain’s closest advisers.”

This statement put by McCain tends to sum things up

‘‘I can’t be a referee of every spot run on television,”

Nor one of his closest advisers.

This trend shows McCain’s willingness to not only follow the same policies but tactics as Bush. Same I might add as got us into the current war.

It's one thing to flip flop on an issues adjusting to events its another to out right lie saying they never took that position.

To add to this McCain saying Sen. Obama out of touch for not going to the front . Than changing direction for redefine the pull out based on talking to the commanders.

Couple this to the whisperings that an attack would help McCain getting elected.

A few examples of how the certain press sources help aid to this trend is by padding the data from the polls saying its a close race for ratings .
But I think the largest event has to be this broad casting on national tv.

By wishing for the death of Sen. Obama than laughing about it.
