"Straight Talk" on what? Has any body read the label ?
John Mccain: when he isn't flip-flopping, he's forgetting, one could not help but wonder if there’s a connection to his memory loss of prolonged use in politics that is. Or could it be McCain missed out on the father son talks to not having the facts as to these issues. Such as Contraception , Birth Control, Aids ,Sex Education or lack there of .
With comments like these I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was.
My comment here: What happen to the John McCain who was proposing a sweeping health care system overhaul aimed at giving people more control and more choices ???
So to sum up whats McCain's saying is he doesn't have enough knowledge on the subject of the facts of life or I hate to go here if he does ,don't remember his postion he took.
In Iowa Sen. McCain met a question, while sitting with reporters on his bus as it rumbled through Iowa , that he couldn’t – or perhaps wouldn’t answer.
Did he support the distribution of taxpayer-subsidized condoms in Africa to fight the transmission of H.I.V.?
What followed was a long series of awkward pauses, glances up to the ceiling and the image of one of Mr. McCain’s aides, standing off to the back, urgently motioning his press secretary to come to McCain’s side.
McCain said he did not know this subject well, did not know his position on it, & relied on the advice of Senator Tom Coburn, a physician and Republican from Ok.
His press secretary, Brian Jones, later reported that Mr. McCain had a record of voting against using government money to finance the distribution of condoms. All this took place on the 2nd of the reprise of the “Straight Talk Express” bus trips that McCain made a central part of his campaign in 2000. It also comes as McCain has eagerly been trying to ease strains with social conservatives in the party who, for the most part, do not support using government money to pay for condoms.
Reporter: “Should U.S. taxpayer money go to places like Africa to fund contraception to prevent AIDS?”
McCain: “Well I think it’s a combination.The guy I really respect on this is Dr. Coburn. He believes & I was just reading what he wrote that you should do what you can to encourage abstinence where there is going to be sexual activity. Where that doesn’t succeed, than he thinks that we should employ contraceptives as well.
My comment here: McCain Never answers the question .“Should U.S. taxpayer money go to places like Africa to fund contraception to prevent AIDS?”

McCain: “I haven’t thought about it. Before I give you an answer, let me think about. Let me think about it a little bit because I never got a question about it before. I don’t know if I would use taxpayers’ money for it.”
My comment here: So much for those who claimed he could think on his feet.
Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush’s policy, which is just abstinence?”
McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president’s policy.”
Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence.Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”
McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”
My comment here: The statement “I’m not very wise on it.” plays back that he was not given instructions on contraceptives helping to fight the transmissionofH.I.V.Q: “I mean, I think you’d probably agree it probably does help stop it?”
McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it.
My comment here: “If he’s not informed “, Not very wise on it.”, “Needs to find out”,Or needs to be told what position he had taken when last involved with this subject. Than neither our the voters.
Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was.Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception . I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”
Q: “But you would agree that condoms do stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Would you say: ‘No, we’re not going to distribute them,’ knowing that?”
An off-message topic was raised from a member of McCain’s own team: national co-chairwoman Carly Fiorina, who had said earlier women often express frustration over the fact many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won’t cover birth control medication. Those women would like a choice,” she said .
In still yet another event aboard his “Straight Talk Express” bus in Ohio when asked about his views on health insurance covering the medication.
I certainly do not want to discuss that issue,” the Arizona senator said .McCain shows his ignorance on the topic & from the video, he squirms & winces his way through the questioning & sums up that he does not know enough about the issue to give an informed answer.
The list of things McCain admittedly doesn’t know anything about is becoming impressively long - economics, computers, the internet and now health insurance.

After 20 years in the Military this term is one you hear alot. It means you take care of the ones working with you or under you. You don,t depend on others because some places you may go you maybe the only one they have . McCain seems to have twisted this a bit to mean take care of one's own Political career . Believe when I tell you I had to think before I typed it this way.
If basing his experice from the military is what he saying will make him the better chooice I think he should try another path.
Asking for others to believe in real change when he has not.

John McCain was perfectly content for this election to be about Sen. Obama's readiness and to remain invisible as the alternative in the corner. Unfortunately for him, it's not shaping out that way.
He was hammered by a veteran yesterday, forced to explain his rejection of the new GI Bill and his continued opposition to improving veteran's health care.
McCain tried to backpedal and obfuscate and claim that he has "received the highest award from literally every veterans organization in America". The problem is that's not true.
The recognition McCain has received from veterans groups is not "high awards" but failing grades: • Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCain a grade of D for his record of voting against veterans. (By contrast, Obama got a B+.) • Disabled Veterans of America noted McCain’s dismal 20 percent voting record on veterans’ issues. (Obama had an 80 percent.) • In a list of "Key Votes," Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) notes McCain "Voted Against Us" 15 times and "Voted For Us" only 8. (Obama voted for VVA 12 times, and against only once.)
Why then, did McCain vote last year against providing more money for military and veterans hospitals? In February 2006, McCain voted against a Senate amendment that would have provided for at least $19 billion for these facilities, paid for by eliminating tax cuts for the wealthiest earners.

McCain pledges to keep racial issues out of campaign Asked during that session with editors in Florida how he'd keep the racism and sexism that flared up in the Democratic primary out of the general election, McCain said he'd do his part:"I will do everything I can to keep that kind of ugliness out of this political campaign."
It's hard to believe in the real change McCain speaks about when one has not changed himself. A stand that puts McCain in the Mist fog if you will. Always hating them kind of like the view he takes as to they will never change force the only thing they understand.

In his initial remarks on an airport tarmac here, Obama had emphasized caveats that seemed to suggest his timetable might slip, saying he would "refine" his policies after he consulted with U.S. generals on a trip to Iraq he plans to make this summer.
Note the wording here seemed to suggest meaning with some twisting it could mean. The rest not even being considered would "refine" his policies meaning how it was done.
"Let me be as clear as I can be. I intend to end this war," he said. "On my first day in office, I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in and I will give them a new mission, and that is to end this war responsibly, deliberately but decisively. And I have seen no information that contradicts the notion that we can bring our troops out safely at a pace of one to two brigades a month. And again, that pace translates into having our combat troops out in 16 months' time."
On one hand McCain’s saying Sen. Obama is not listening to the troops on the ground than attacks him when he does.

On Thursday, Obama blamed the Arizona senator for stoking perceptions that he has wavered in his commitment to end the war. "I think what has happened is the McCain campaign primed the pump with the press to suggest we were changing our policy when we haven't," he said.
McCain's campaign accused Obama of abandoning his pledge to withdraw troops immediately from Iraq.
"Today, Barack Obama reversed that position, proving once again that his words do not matter," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said. "He has now adopted John McCain's position that we cannot risk the progress we have made in Iraq by beginning to withdraw our troops immediately without concern for conditions on the ground."
It might be noted here this is a different stand than one who saw our troops at war for the next 40 -100 years.McCain,
However, has also altered his position. In May, after spending months scolding opponents who proposed withdrawal timetables, he reversed course and said he hoped to see most troops home by 2013. Were emboldening America's enemies with their call for a withdrawal, which he said amounted to waving "the white flag of surrender."
I believe it was Mike Huckabee that said
“Those who pledge to withdraw our troops according to some politically-motivated rationale before this war is won” And President Bush that stated “Mission accomplished”.
General Clark said Sunday that he did not believe McCain's being shot down over Vietnam qualified him to be president, but he did not suggest McCain had exaggerated his heroism.
I believe this comment was to imply there are different types of leadership. That this type does not have the sole experience to lead a country. By McCain own words said that he doesn’t no enough about economics.
If you where to focus this signal act as an ability to run & make polices for our country.
Than stepping back to look at the view in which this stands comes into play. Linking to other comments made by McCain as to not willing to come to table on issues unless they agree to our terms.
Slamming Sen. Obama for wanting to talk to key players that force the only thing they understand.
There are some key things that the leadership in his role of being shot down and POW missed, not to say bravery doesm't comes into play.
In any battle where there needs to be ground taken. One has to look at the cost of taking that ground not only in funds & equipment but human life.
If these don’t out weigh the gains to reach that goal. Case in point the cost of this war the life’s & economic damage that has caused hardship on this country.
Compared to the gains to this country being safer. To include the rights & freedoms being rolled over.
Than other options should have been found. Strengthen our boarders; tighten controls of our shipping and mass transportation. Communication engaged just to name a few.
If indeed war is the last hope than a complete plan would have been nice in and out. No if these comments had problem at all it was he had not explained them far enough for his words not to be twisted.
It would be nice if McCain’s words where looked at just as close that is if he would say the same thing twice on the same issue.
One also has to think why McCain wants Sen.Obama to cut Loose General Clark???

I've been running VoteVets.org for a couple of years now. In 2006 and in 2008, we've endorsed a number of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans for Congress. It's still a story that the press is largely interested in, and when they call me to talk about it, I always -- always -- get the same first question: What is it about their honorable service in Iraq and/or Afghanistan that qualifies them to go to Congress? It's a legit question, and neither I, nor any of the candidates, take any umbrage at it. As veterans of the current conflicts, they have a unique perspective on the wars that should be part of the debate on the floor of Congress, and a vote that helps shapes our security policy. Yesterday, John McCain was asked basically the same question by a brave reporter at ABC News. The reporter, not falling for the hysterics and mock-outrage of the McCain camp over General Wesley Clark's comments simply asked what John McCain's experiences in Vietnam did to prepare him to lead the largest military on the face of the earth. McCain's response?
"Please," he said, recoiling back in his seat in distaste at the very question. Uh uh. That's not good enough.
You would assume that given all the whining over General Clark's legitimate point, that John McCain had some obvious answer to the question.
Instead, he refused to answer the question, and let Joe Lieberman and Lindsay Graham come to his defense, babbling to the reporter about character, but not a word about qualifications.
The fact of the matter is that General Clark was absolutely right. McCain's service, while heroic and honorable, is not very relevant when it comes to preparing him to be the military's ultimate commander. His experience didn't involve executive decision making in the military, or global strategy. Very few candidates for the presidency have had the experience in life that prepares them for that role.
In fact, McCain said it himself in 2003, that some of our best Commanders in Chief had no military experience at all.
That's why the McCain campaign went into all-out outrage mode over General Clark's comments. It wasn't about being offended. It wasn't even about General Clark. It was about lashing out so strongly that the media would cower in fear, and not even think about putting a question like this to McCain -- a question to which he has no answer, and is afraid of being exposed on that point. And, for most of the week, that strategy was successful, as the press wimped out, and repeated the McCain talking points. The reporter from ABC News didn't fall for it, and did his job. But he didn't get an answer. Maybe now, reporters will stuff their guts back in their bodies and keep asking McCain this legit question -- a question I get a version of all the time from the same reporters. It's a legit question, and it's a question for which the American people deserve an answer

My Comment here: This seems to be inline with Bush's Mission Accomplished . If this his view of prospect of success than I think we should head for the nearest cave and wait for the next stimulist check along with our food stamps.

Gives no event that would cause pull out could be sooner than we imagine but also sees our troops there for the next 40 - 100 years

My comment here: From what I have read and heard he's not been clear on a dam thing from wire tapping Economics Environmental or anything else as to just where he stands.
Osama bin Laden will either be killed on the battlefield or executed. How can a president of the United States guarantee that someone will be executed before he has been tried or even apprehended?
I’ve never heard to such a thing before. Hasn’t McCain heard of a mere formality called judicial due process? Or have we gotten to he point where we can dispense with that too as we have with so many of our other civil liberties

Since then, Mr. McCain has been shocked to learn that his clerical ally has made many other outrageous statements.
Mr. Hagee, it’s true, did not blame the American government for concocting AIDS. But he did say that God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its sins, particularly a scheduled “homosexual parade there on the Monday that Katrina came.”
Mr. Hagee didn’t make that claim in obscure circumstances, either. He broadcast it on one of America’s most widely heard radio programs, “Fresh Air” on NPR, back in September 2006.

That attitude was borne out in McCain’s actions and votes. Forty Senators and 100 members of Congress visited New Orleansbefore he did; he finally got there in March 2006.
He voted against establishing a Congressional commission to examine the Federal, State, and local responses to Katrina in med-September 2005.
He repeated that vote in 2006. He voted against allowing up to 52 weeks of unemployment benefits to people affected by the hurricane, and in 2006 voted against appropriating $109 billion in supplemental emergency funding, including $28 billion for hurricane relief.
Shortly after the disaster in New Orleans, McCain did introduce abillthat sought to improve communications mechanisms for first-responders and authorities. The bill failed to go anywhere, and McCain later voted against other bills that had similar provisions.

My Comment here; He did not answer as to why he was not there to vote on it. Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) skipped the vote on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which “restores the longstanding interpretation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act,” overturned last year by a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling.
In New Orleans today, McCain explained his opposition to the bill by claiming it “opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems.”
Later in New Orleans, he added that instead of legislation allowing women to fight for equal pay, they simply need “education and training“:
“They need the education and training, particularly since more and more women are heads of their households, as much or more than anybody else,” McCain said. “And it’s hard for them to leave their families when they don’t have somebody to take care of them

As people may remember, John McCain got a lot of political heat over the employee of Richard Quinn, editor of the Southern Partisan, as the director of his South Carolina campaign in 2000.
Later Quinn left the editorship and some erroneous information is circulating out there that the Southern Partisan doesn't exist anymore. It does exist and seems to be doing as well as ever.
Another piece of misinformation that seems to be out there, is that Richard Quinn is no longer associated with the Southern Partisan.
Quinn is still involved with the Southern Partisan, he is one of two owners of Southern Partisan.
In the Vol. 24 No. 5, Sept./Oct. 2004, published date Oct. 2005, on page 34, has a statement of circulation. In the statement of circulation the owners are given as Charles Hamel, and Richard M. Quinn. The Southern Partisan now has a dual dating system, one date given is an "official" date and the other is a published date.

John McCain's 2008 Presidential campaign has paid over 180,000 dollars to a political consulting firm called "Richard Quinn and Associates."
They are a firm located in South Carolina. The firm is named after Richard Quinn, who in 2000 was all over the news for sunning the racist tinged "Southern Partisan" magazine.
One would think John McCain had figured out that paying this guy a lot of money from his campaign warchest was a bad idea. But, no. He didn't learn the lessons of 2000.

In a single step They could be closing the Enron Loophole --- Congress and George Bush could create an overnight drop in oil prices of between 25 and 50 percent. This is according to testimony before a Senate Committee two weeks ago by Michael Greenberger, the former director of Trading &
"Yes," Greenberger testified, "overnight [closing the Enron Loophole] will bring down the price of crude oil to get at least a 25 percent drop in the cost of oil and a corresponding drop in the cost of gasoline. Some people estimate 50 percent."
Greenberger's testimony was brought to light by an investigation into the Enron Loophole by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's "Countdown" last week. (A transcript of Olbermann's report follows.)
The Enron Loophole is the nickname for a provision written into the Commodity Futures Modernization Act (CFMA) of 2000 that was drafted by lobbyists for Enron and inserted in the bill by then Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas) that deregulated an aspect of the market Enron sought to exploit with its "Enron On-Line" trading program, the first Internet-based commodities transaction system. Phil Gramm is now a key economic adviser for the John McCain campaign.
While it was a technical success, Enron On-Line was based on a flawed business model that drained corporate revenues --- even while the company was manipulating the rates consumers paid for electricity in California. Enron On-Line eventually drove the company into bankruptcy, and the cooking of the books to hide its losses led to charges of conspiracy and fraud against Enron executives.
The Republicans' sudden rollout of the campaign to lift the ban on offshore drilling is really meant to shift the blame from Bush and the GOP to the Democrats and their opposition to offshore drilling.
To their credit, they have done a masterful job --- and all it has cost them is the credibility of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who broke tradition in the state and came out in favor of lifting the ban.
(It has also cost whatever meager credibility Crist's predecessor, Jeb Bush, had left. Bush opposed lifting the ban when he was in office but came out wholeheartedly in favor of it this weekend.)

On June 1st, The Washington Post reported that a new lobby is gearing up to increase support among parentsto strenghten an already failed policy: Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Education Programs.
The article, entitled “U.S. Campaign to Promote Abstinence Begins,” details the recent effort by the National Abstinence Education Association to enlist the support of one million parents and convince Congress to continue its funding of Abstinence-Only programs in public middle and high schools.
Despite evidence-based research which shows Abstinence-Only programs to be ineffective and riddled with misinformation in many cases, Congress has continued to increase funding for these programs each year.
Before July 1st of this year, Congress will decide whether to increase this funding stream yet again for Abstinence-Only education programs to the tune of $190 million.
A total of seventeen states, including New Jersey and Arizona, have declined federal funding for Abstinence-Only education programs in recent years, citing the flaws of the Abstinence-Only curricula which are often incongruent with individual state core education standards. Polls across the country continue to show that parents, educators, practitioners, and researchers support an integrated approach to sexuality education for young people, most commonly known as Comprehensive Sexuality Education programs, which discuss both abstinence and contraception methods.

Title V is a federal and state matching program, under which states contribute three dollars for every four federal dollars, and from that pot of money, distribute grants to organizations to provide an unambiguous abstinence-only message in schools.
Programs receiving funds from either source may not endorse, promote, or provide information about contraceptive use, except to emphasize their (often exaggerated) failure rates.
