The dense mist swirls, then parts, revealing one man, then 10, then an entire 76000 , all armed with signs and cheering . To late McCain realizes he's Stumbled across the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field at Mile High, a 76000-seat ...

McCain in the Mist
McCain pledges to keep racial issues out of campaign
Asked during that session with editors in Florida how he'd keep the racism and sexism that flared up in the Democratic primary out of the general election, McCain said he'd do his part:"I will do everything I can to keep that kind of ugliness out of this political campaign."

It's hard to believe in the real change McCain speaks about when one has not changed himself. A stand that puts McCain in the Mist fog if you will.
Always hating them kind of like the view he takes as to they will never change force the only thing they understand.

If this example of what McCain gained in experience from his military past than to hate from day one should be counted as an assist.
The one thing McCain should have walked away with is things, events and people change. In order to lead them you do so by example.
In thinking back during one of McCain's town hall meeting's was to the Asian Community I don't recall him addressing them as Gooks. Only asking for their vote.
Arizona Sen. John McCain refused to apologize yesterday for his use of a racial slur to condemn the North Vietnamese prison guards who tortured and held him captive during the war.
"I hate the gooks," McCain said yesterday in response to a question from reporters aboard his campaign bus. "I will hate them as long as I live."
Thinking about this from another view that could include the next term as leader of our nation. Developing forign policy's
"McCain, a former Navy pilot who spent five years in a Vietnamese prisoner of war camp, was questioned about the language because of a story last month in the Nation magazine reporting his continued use of the slur.
Because what this country really needs is an avowed, unrepentant racist as President.

Update: A phone statement from Councilman John C. Liu:
"This was highly offensive in 2000, and it's offensive today. For a would-be President, the statute of limitations for a slur like this is longer than eight years. I think everyone can understand how a POW comes to hate his captors. Hopefully, however, he's come to understand that "gooks" is one of the most offensive terms anyone can possibly use about Asian-Americans."
Ana Navarro, co-chairwoman of the Latino voter advisory committee for McCain, made the following comment in an NPR story posted this morning about the Latino vote:

"Let's be frank here: The immigration debate at times has been offensive and hurtful to Hispanics and immigrants. But John McCain has never once in his life engaged in negative, offensive rhetoric against any group," she says.
"Lets be truthful here: Trying to pass off the comments of hate as old habbits not washing. When some one hangs on to terms of hate they do so because they choose to. Not wanting to change this could be another reason McCain has hard time with computers people in all age groups have grasped the new technologies of computers at least those who wanted to.
Lets not forget :
Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”
